What Countries in Europe is much like Latin America when it comes to taking care of the elderly

What Countries in Europe is much like Latin America when it comes to taking care of the elderly?
I'm referring that you see Hispanic people in Latin America and it's part of culture when someone in the family is old unable to care him/herself.Instead of dumping them to a nursing home one of the grown kids of the elderly parent/s takes turn caring for them at their own house. Also the Hispanic culture sees it as a disgrace to dump them in a nursing home like people here in America do it. So my question is What central and eastern European countries do the same and view it the same as Latin Americans?Would the following countries include France, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Czech, Finland, Croatia, Ukraine? I know that it's the same with Southern European countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece. Also that northern European countries such as United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, are just about or the same as Americans. I keep wondering why does it seem that non white i.e Africans, Asians, Native Americans are the same way when it comes to caring for an elderly.

Africans normally don't live that long. They usually die of AIDS, tribe wars, genocide, and other diseases before the age of 35.

I Think in Us (Latinos) Its Mainly on Like a Catholic (Karma) We Believe our Elders are very Important and Everyone knows they don't want to be treated like baby's but do not want to be abandoned into a place where they might take care of them but the Love Isn't there... Its Like the Saying.. " Treat Others the Way You Would Like to Be treated" Just My Opinion...
3 :
As an Italian.. I know that Croations, Serbians and Romanians (Just any Eastern Euro country) are VERY family orientated and look after their elderly Its an embarassment to send your parents to a retirement home in our culture
4 :
Basque and Turkey.
5 :
I would say Spain. By the way, Finland is in northern Europe.

Why am I having such a difficult time choosing a college major

Why am I having such a difficult time choosing a college major?
I graduated from high school in 2007 & was set on being a Pharmacist. My grades weren't great & my advisor told me I have no chance of being a Pharmacist so I might as well change my major. I asked her if I should try and become P.A. (Physician's Assistant), Physical Therapist, etc (& basically every thing I told her.....she shot me down and said I basically have no chance of getting a degree in the medical field. At a young age I had my heart set on having a career in the medical field because I know its what my parents wanted. I come from a Indian family and my parents are quite understanding..but they always insinuated & kind of expected me to become a doctor, pharmacist, etc. Back then it didn't bother me, because I wanted to do whatever I could to make them proud of me. I have an older brother and sister who majored in Finance, Management & Marketing, and Business..& since my parents have worked in the medical field their entire lives I always felt like they expected me to follow in their footsteps and do more than they did since my brother and sister chose their own majors. The college advisor told me I have no chance getting a degree in the medical field I was so lost & confused and did not know what to do. I cried for weeks, because I was so scared of not knowing what I was going to do with my life, and on top of that I didn't want to disappoint my parents. The classes I had been taking were pre-requisites for Pharmacy so I changed my mind and decided to go towards Nursing instead despite what the advisor told me. Right now I've applied for two R.N. programs and am in the process of applying to some BSN programs. At this point I really am so frustrated and confused. My plan was always to graduate and get my degree and travel. I am so very much interested in other cultures which is why I want to travel everywhere I can (I recently have discovered Japanese anime and culture as well as South Korean culture and I want to learn as much as I can). Now in 2011, I should be graduating with a Bachelor's degree but I'm stuck with a basic A.A. degree because I can't decide what I want to do. The more I think about it, I wonder is the medical field really for me? Don't get me wrong.....the career and subject is appealing and interesting to me and it is a career that provides a nice salary, but I just don't know what to do. Another thing is I really like children and always thought it would be so neat to be an elementary school teacher but I never thought too much about it, because I would like a career that has a higher salary. I recently discovered that you can become an English teacher (some countries require you to have a Bachelor's Degree in English or Education) and teach English to children in different countries. I told my parents about it and my dad said that if I get my Nursing degree first he would have no objections with me teaching in foreign countries. The thing that worries me is, once I get my R.N. or B.S.N (which ever program I get accepted into first) I will start to work and not have the time to go back and get an English degree or even travel so that I can teach overseas. Even though I am only 21 (will be 22 in August) I'd always hoped I would be finished with school (at least the part of school where my parents would be happy with me) so that I could finally enjoy life and travel or do whatever! I have always had the thought that it would be so neat to study abroad but my dreams just seem so far away and I feel like nothing will ever be accomplished. I'm always thinking "wouldn't it be great to visit Japan, Bali, Italy, etc or do something exciting....but they're all thoughts that never get turned into actions. There's so much going on in my head that I just break into tears sometimes. All kids want their parents to be proud of them, but I feel like if I choose a random major that I would enjoy like (asian studies, psychology, elementary education) they would be disappointed in me. I mean they're paying for school, books, everything....the least I can do is make them proud of me by following what they want me to do. I have no motivation, I'm mentally & physically drained..literally I have no energy :( My sister is my best friend in the entire universe and she is going through an abusive marriage (both physically and mental) and it breaks my heart. My brother, who I am close with, also got married a few months ago so I live alone with my parents. I never go out, because I am not comfortable with my appearance. I only have a small handful of friends who I only get to see from time to time, so I get really lonely :( I get so upset & start eating away & now I'm overweight. When I was thin people told me all the time how I was so cute and had a great smile but I feel so unattractive. I've never had a boyfriend & i try not to let it bother me (it really doesn't) but of course at times I get super lonely. I w

1) You really should sit down and ask yourself. What are the things I love, and what are the dreams I have. From the sound of it your parents love you, and even though they might be disappointed if you don't choose a medical career, I'm sure they would rather see you happy and healthy than depressed and unhappy because you chose a major for their sakes rather than your own. 2) Don't listen to that counselor. If you want to be a nurse you can stay longer taking classes, working hard, to do whatever it takes to get into nursing school and graduate. Nursing, or any medical profession, is a great career. They are always needed, they pay well, and you really can go overseas very easily with that type of work. Don't be concerned about majoring in English or Education. Even if you get a different degree (like nursing or health) you can always get certified to teach later on. In order to teach overseas there are programs where all you need is a TEFL certification and a program that is hiring native English speakers with bachelors degrees. There are many people from various majors teaching English all over the world (particularly in China). You don't need to have the "right" major in order to do that post college or even later on. 3) Your life is not planned out for you. YOU are the one in control of it. You need to learn to love yourself and love your life for what it is. We all get lost sometimes but we pick ourselves back up and fight for what we want. You can do that. Don't shoot down your dreams before you even let yourself dream them. Nobody knows what they want to do when they're your age. Most of us don't even have it figured out the first few years out of college. Choosing your major is one tiny part of your journey in life. Pick one you want and don't worry too much about it. Keep looking forward so you can enjoy your life. No matter what happens, it's not your major that will determine what you do with your life and where you go- it is you who will determine those things. Good luck! I hope you feel the confidence you're looking for to move forward and find what you want.

That advisor sounds like an A hole. I wouldn't let that one person shut down your dreams like that. I would keep doing what you want to do. Don't Feel pressured as to what your major is in. In the large scope of things all that matters is that you have A degree. Talk to a support group for your family/personal depression issues and deal with those before leaving the country. It takes a lot to be on your own that far away from home where you won't know anyone.

What photos are your computer desk

What photos are your computer desk?
Okay so it doesn't have to be a computer desk, that's just where I keep the photos which mean the most to be :) I was just wondering out of interest what the most beloved photos you have are and why it's important to you ... Mine include 1. My Papa as a young boy it's a black and white snap which just doesn't give the colors of Italy a chance but the smile on his face as he looks down from a tree branch to my Nonno makes up for it 2. My Mama as a young girl in rural spain, dressed in her best dressed with muddy knees and dipping her feet off the edge of Abuelo's fishing boat which just reminds me how much of a tomboy my put together feminine mother really was 3. My parents' wedding photo is considered plain by any standards in the modern day but Mama's simple white dress is the one I fell in love with as a little girl and I've never seen my Papa stand so strong in a suit which actually fits and doesn't have marinara sauce on it so mixed with the looks on their faces which first taught me what love was, this is one of my favorite photos 4. There is a collage of photos, two side by side - The first is of my oldest brother holding me just hours after I was born, he was just a toddler with bed head, mismatched clothes and a milk moustache but he looks so proud to be a big brother - The second is about four years later when my younger brother was born and is built around the same set up, my brother still hasn't brushed his hair and Papa has obviously tried yet failed to plait my hair so that one if falling out and the other is on top of my head but yet again my big brother looks so protective over both of us and my baby brother is squeezing my finger as I smile at him 5. The first photo of my husband and me back when we were six years old and simply best friends, we're squeezed together onto the tree swing in my back garden talking quietly - It's innocent, simple and almost plain but it just speaks bounds about our relationship 6. A photo of my brothers and I sitting on the couch when I was eight - My left arms in a cast which is already been scribbled on, my older brother is nursing a broken fist and my little brother has a bleeding nose with a tissue bunched up to it all because someone had pushed me off the jungle gym and my ten and four year olds brothers had decided they had to do something ... It reminds me how over protective my family can be 7. My husband and I, aged around twelve lying on my couch fast asleep surrounded by history textbooks - His back is pressed against the arm and I've slipped in between his legs, pressed up against his chest in my sleep as his arms wrap around my waist and it just goes to show how we fell in love long before we admitted it to each other :P 8. My first ever prom when I was fourteen years old, I was so excited that someone had asked me to the dance and spent weeks looking for the perfect dark green dress so that I look extremely happy awkwardly curling my arm around my date's with my husband/best friend at the time stood beside us with his date - The photo has a rip through it, seperating my date and I after a found him kissing another girl after the dance ... My husband found it after we moved in together and sellotaped it back together to show me how jealous he actually looks in the photo because although I knew he didn't like my date, I never knew it was because he wanted to ask me himself 9. My high school graduation photo has all my family in it and that's a heck of a lot of people :) Papa was so proud of his little princess graduating that he flew both families from Italy and Spain to California just so they could see it - I'm standing in the center with both my brothers either side of me, my youngest wearing my graduation cap and my oldest holding my diploma high above my head so I can't reach So that's just some of mine, what are yours?

I have a whole bunch of pictures in a storage chest in my room. But the ones I have on display are mostly of my daughter. I have a collage type thing going on that has 3 frames. Two are just my daughter, the middle one has a picture of my boyfriend and I pre-parenthood, under that is an ultrasound picture, under that is our daughter on her 1st birthday.
2 :
Everyone who represents joy and happiness in my life: portraits of my 2 daughters, picture of our family when we went to Disney World on my eldest's 7th birthday, family picture taken on a studio last father's day, and a picture of my parents, me and my husband, and my 2 other sisters with their spouses all together when we visited out home country.
3 :
well at my work its a group picture of all my 9 nieces and nephews , i am currently on maternity leave so i will be taking a picture of my beautifull little girl when i go back
4 :
my are of my daughter and me and her father. My favorite is a picture of her and daddy together at the park. She is sitting on a large turtle and he is behind her. Ever time I look at that picture it reminds me of all the laughter we shared that day. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words. But I think it worth a lot more in feelings.
5 :
Every picture I have is special and important to me, especially the baby pictures of our little girl. I have a scrapbook for her and most of them are in there. My husband got me a digital frame for Vday and I have tons of there too. The rest are on my computer.
6 :
I don't have any pictures on my computer. I have a external hard drive that I keep all my digital pictures on, but I tend to print out all the pictures on the digital camera once a month and stick them in a photo album.

What career should I look into

What career should I look into?
I want to see the world. Every bit of culture and history that it has to offer. I am so fascinated by every culture that there is. I want to know everything about every group of people there is. I am especially fascinated by Eastern Countries, for some reason. I want to see Morocco, Italy, Indonesia, and my dream is to some day, move to Sri Lanka. I want to just run through puddles of mud with no shoes on, and not worry about buying the latest trends. I want to stand face to face with an elephant (I think). What I really dream of, is helping. Talking to, and caring for all Underdeveloped ethnic groups I can get my hands on. What I really want to do, is just know everything? I don't know, I'm just fascinated by Culture. So what career do you think that I should go into? I am in Nursing School, so do you think that I should just be a traveling nurse? HELPPPP!

As a nurse you could be very valuable to an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) like Doctors Without Borders. You could serve a couple years in the Peace Corps and see some of the world. There are lots of opportunities for health care workers, especially in the third world. You might consider taking a third-world language, like Arabic or Swahili or Urdu or Hindi.
2 :
Pilot or flight attendant or maybe world wide relief worker.
