Army overseas/nurse question...Vicenza, Italy

Army overseas/nurse question...Vicenza, Italy?
My husband and I will possibly be moving to Vicenza in July. I am currently in school right now to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). I will finish school in June and take my licensing exam shortly after. If we move to Italy, will I be able to work as an LPN at a clinic or hospital on post? I am confused as to whether or not this is permissable for residents living in Italy that are brought to the community because of the military. Would working off post be the same as working on post? Also, does anyone have any experience bringing animals, particaulary dogs, with them to overseas locations? We have a mastiff and st. bernard and do not want to find new homes for them, but are uncertain of whether or not there is gvernment housing that would be able to accomodate our pets. I have read that most rentals in Italy are apartments, so obviously my size dogs would not fit well in such confined space, but is there government housing on post that will? Military persons with experience overseas, particulary Italy, please answer.

I was in Sicily. It is very expensive to bring dogs with you, it could cost you more than a grand. The chances of finding a home wgere you can have 2 large dogs is slim, or again very expensive

Travel Nursing?
I live in the US. California to be exact, and I would like to travel to Italy to do travel nursing. Does anyone know of any companies that do travel nursing internationally, or in Italy?

Does anyone know (Nursing school in the US related)

Does anyone know (Nursing school in the US related)?
I'm about to start Nursing School in my country (Italy) and I was wondering, does anyone know (or knows of somebody) if, once you have your degree, you can "transfer" it in the US? You see, living in America is my dream and so is medicine (well... nursing) so i was wondering if this can be a possibility... thanks!

Nursing as a choice or as a need

Nursing as a choice or as a need?
It seems that in these days of crisis many people get into nursing. Before it was something not chosen but now it looks like a nice way to get a good job not being able to find something else. Does this happen in the USA too? Greetings from Italy.

Yes, but it is harder and harder to get a job as a new graduate now. First, because nurses are coming out of retirment due to the economy. Hospitals would rather hire a 30 year veteran than a new grad that they would need to train for the first 6 months. Second, the census in hospitals are down. a lot of hospitals are on freezes right now, and if they arent, then they are not in need of too many nurses. full time nurses are getting cut in the middle of their shift or being called off. If youre a per diem nurse, forget about it. they have no work for you.

Great thing about being a nurse is that you can take your education world wide. You will just have to apply for a license in Italy. I have a friend who is a travel nurse and works in Sicily and loves it.
