In Love and War (1996) starring Chris O'Donnell, Sandra Bullock, Mackenzie Astin IMDb synopsis: Reporter Ernest Hemingway (O'Donnell) is an ambulance driver in Italy during World War I. While bravely risking his life in the line of duty, he is injured and ends up in the hospital, where he falls in love with his nurse, Agnes von Kurowsky (Bullock). IMDb review: For those of you who have read Hemingway, you will be surprised and captivated by the boyishness of the pre-war Hemingway that O'Donnell gives us so beautifully. The episodes in the life of the author that are covered by In Love and War are for the most part, not pretty. However, they give an insight into the writing of America's greatest author that no other movie of his work has ever done. Those who expected a movie version of A Farewell to Arms did not receive it, because the autobiographical In Love and War does not tell the same story that the semi-autobiographical novel did. Registered Nurse Going Abroad

    Registered Nurse Going Abroad?
I am currently working on a BS for Psychology and I plan on entering an accelerated program to become a registered nurse afterwards. After this, I intend to pursue a Doctorate degree (most likely in Psychology). While I'm getting my doctorate I want to study abroad, perhaps in Italy or somewhere else in Europe. Is it possible to do this? And would I be able to maybe get a part-time nursing job while I am overseas?

it seems to me that you don't have enough information to make the decision. Nursing school is more demanding than you might think. It takes more than book knowledge. You may have not seen the course requirements. Having a psych background helps with only one of the requirements. There is anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, to name a few. Beware of accelerated programs, especially if you really don't know what it takes to be a nurse. As for being a travel nurse most companies want you to have at least 2 years experience working in a hospital. you'll have to pass the NCLEX test here, and depending on what country you travel to you may have the opportunity to take their test or have to take a refresher course. They use only Celsius and metric. They use different names for their drugs too. The generic name of course will be the same in most cases, but you will have to familiarize yourself with their brand names. You can get a very agreeable contract, and travel as well. As for part time, for myself it's been almost impossible. There is a nursing shortage globally, and I guess you know we are in a crisis.

Are you sure you want a national health system like Europe

Are you sure you want a national health system like Europe?
Expired drugs, unlicensed nurses, stray cats and scuttling rats were among the horrors that emerged from police inspections of Italian hospitals that recommended possible investigations against more than 100 people, health officials said Thursday. Health Minister Livia Turco promised swift action, but insisted that Italians could still trust their health system, noting the problems affected a minority of the country's hospitals. Special health units from the Carabinieri paramilitary police inspected 321 of Italy's 672 public medical centers this week, reporting shocking instances of poor hygiene, officials said at a news conference at the Health Ministry. Some 17 percent of hospitals, mostly in southern and central Italy, had problems serious enough to recommend possible judicial investigations against 111 people, the Health Ministry said. Thirty-six percent of hospitals were found to have administrative violations.

My daughter, her husband and her mother in law returned from France at the end of last summer. The mother became sick with the flu. The hotel called a Parisian doctor and he was there in 10 minutes. He prescribed the correct drugs, and the whole experience cost them a total of $25. We need Universal Health Coverage.

I spent the holidays in Ireland, where they were planning on passing a law to ensure that no one would wait in a hospital waiting room more than 6 hours before seeing a dr. The radio was full of people complaining about 12 hour waits and worse. Look before you leap America. Ireland is one of the best! There is a reason why anyone who can afford it in Europe comes to the USA for treatment.

Naturally the dummycrats want a national health system to create more patronage jobs and hide the payoffs that national health will create. Look at the Canadian mess not to mention events in Europe and You can see why their systems do not work. The dummycrats want to force insurance on everyone but illegals and those in the underground economy will not pay anything. The young who do not usually get insurance will be given a hidden tax in the form of mandatory health insurance. More waste of money for less service. I am already getting ripped off for Medicare that I do not use and the Part D also rips people off because of the deductables and co pays.

      2 :
I think it may be technically possible but i worked with the FFLs 13th Demi brigade in 06 and trust me .... there were no girls in sight unless your talking about the locals or the hos they ship in on French tax payer dime :DDD
      3 :
your to good lookin to join the legion no disrespect but there all dicks
      4 :
Unless someone has been a member of the FF Legion or knows of someone first hand who was, I don't think a female would be allowed due to the ruggedness of this Army. May I suggest that you do some research to find out more about the FF Legion, just Google it and see what you can learn about it. I don't know about now but at one time it was a very "secretive" special unit of the French government. The Answer Man---Al Cote
